After our stay in Nashville, we were ready to utilize some of the amenities that this campground had to offer!
St. Louis West Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday (a mouthful, I know) seems to have a good amount of traffic and lots of fun activities to keep you entertained during your stay. It is nestled right in between two super small towns (Pacific and Eureka) but only about 25 mins from Downtown St. Louis. There is a nearby state park (Don Robinson – see our post on St. Louis and Eureka for some detailed tips on it) and a couple restaurants littered around both small downtown areas.
This campground has a pool, playground, gem mining(??), a “jumping pillow”, daily outdoor movies, an event room and a dog park! It also has pull thru and back in full hookup sites, primitive cabins, deluxe cabins AND tent sites! We were able to have groceries delivered via instacart but they did not offer an outgoing mail/package option (trust me, I asked, but there is a cute post office right down the road in Downtown Pacific).
Here is what we found to be the glows and grows of this campground:
PROS:
- Dog Park
- Decent Pool
- Close to Downtown areas of Eureka and Pacific with cute shops
- Close to at least one State Park for hiking, etc.
CONS:
- No option for outgoing packages/mail
- The water in Eureka has a high level of minerals, so we caved and used store bought water halfway through the stay.
- Lots of kids running around unattended – a pet peeve of mine after teaching for 7 years… lol
- Air Quality – there were air quality alerts for our entire stay
We enjoyed our stay at this KOA, and we know each one offers a different, yet familiar experience. See our post on this area in the “Places to Visit” section of the blog! 🙂
